What is Music Therapy?
Music therapists use music as a way of communicating with their clients while they work toward various therapeutic aims. These aims or goals can include developing social skills, strengthening physical coordination, emotion management, or psychological development such as increasing attention span. Music therapists use music as their primary therapeutic tool, often encouraging their clients to play instruments or sing, even if a client has no previous musical experience. Music therapy is a growing field, and its methods have been shown to be beneficial in assisting the development of children and youth as well as adults with a wide range of needs.
